DICK BARBOUR RACING WINS 2001 ALMS & ELMS CHAMPIONSHIPS!
Braselton, GA (October 2001) The Dick Barbour
Racing (DBR) team finished the 2001 ALMS season in thrilling
and excellent fashion, placing first and third in the LMP-675
class at the Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta, our home racecourse.
This finish was extremely important, in that it enabled our
team to accumulate the number of total competition points required
to win both the American Le Mans and European Le Mans class
championships. To top things off, our drivers concluded the
season by finishing 1, 2 and 3 in the Drivers Competition,
with lead driver, Didier de Radigues, claiming the title. DBR
now holds the distinction of winning more races, sixteen (including
9 of 12 GT class victories in 2000), than any other team in
the three year history of the ALMS, accomplishing this feat
in only two years of competition! Preparations are under way
for the 2002 season, as again, we are looking forward to a very
successful and exciting campaign.
