Dick Barbour Racing Bolsters Team Management
Sebring, FL (March 15, 2001) Dick Barbour Racing has announced three management appointments designed to strengthen the organization and position it for future success.
In the area of team management, Dick Barbour has appointed two extremely well experienced individuals. Joe Weidensall has been named General Manager with responsibilities including business management and team development with an eye toward long-term growth and expansion. Weidensall comes to Dick Barbour from the American Le Mans Series where he served as Director of Broadcast Operations. Weidensall brings a wealth of motorsports experience dating back to 1983 when he worked as Vice President and Director of Sports Programming for Univision. Subsequently, Weidensall served as an Executive VP at IMSA responsible for television.
Bob Skene will join Dick Barbour Racing as Team Manager coordinating all trackside activities and liason with Reynard and Engine Developments and other team partners. Skene has a deep motorsports management experience having served with organizations such as McLaren Cars, Brands Hatch Leisure Group, Carl Haas Racing and at Honda of Europe where he managed the marque's touring car racing test team.
Barbour also announced the appointment of Ed Triolo as Director, Marketing Communications with responsibilities of media relations as well as sponsor development and liaison. Most recently, Triolo served as Racing Program Manager, Media Relations for Olive Garden Team Rafanelli and he brings well over twenty years experience in automotive industry marketing communications, motorsports media relations and commercial development.
In announcing the new personnel, Dick Barbour stated, "I am looking forward to building on the success of our 2000 ALMS GT Championship. These significant appointments will help the team accomplish that growth. As we move from GT competition to the Prototype category we are strengthening the team and positioning it for success both in the near term and well into the future."
