Willingham and Wars Tenth In Sears Point GT Battle

Sonoma, Ca. (July 22, 2001) – With Mark Neuhaus unable to drive because of another commitment, Dick Barbour Racing added young Sears Point Russel Driving School instructor, David Mc Entee to the lineup of the #15 Porsche GT3-R for the team's second GT outing of the season.

After a hard fought battle, the trio took tenth in the GT category behind four of the very rapid BMW M3 GTRs and a gaggle of Porsche GTs. Their toughest battle in fact was with tires. The difficult Sears Point surface combined with high track temperatures made for slick running all weekend long.

At the start, Grady Willingham who had qualified the car 12th in GT with a 1 minute, 44.121 second lap, found the going particularly slippery. Gradually, however the tires began to "come in" and he picked up a GT position as the race hit its first hour. Then at the first pit stop, a malfunctioning pit speed limiter was the cause of a frustrating penalty.

Grady turned the car over to Randy Wars at that point. Wars did a good job in heavy traffic, working his way up to 12th in GT by the time of his handover to young Mc Entee. Finally, Mc Entee kept up the pace to bring the car home 10th in GT.
