DICK BARBOUR RACING EARNS POLE POSITION
AT THE GRAND PRIX OF TEXAS
Road Atlanta, GA September 2, 2000 - The Dick Barbour Racing number 5 Porsche 911 GT3R, piloted in today's final qualifying session by Lucas Luhr, grabbed the pole position for the inaugural Grand Prix of Texas at the Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth.
Nailing down the second starting position was the Team's number 15 Porsche 911 GT3R, qualified by Sascha Maassen. The Team's new entry, a third Porsche 911 GT3R, the number 15 driven by Terry Borcheller, grabbed the fourth position on the starting grid.
The Texas event represents the first outing for the Team's new effort, the new number 15. The new Porsche 911 GT3R will be piloted for the Texas race and the balance of the ALMS season by the 1999 Women's Global GT star Jennifer Tumminelli and Mexican Endurance Racing veteran Randy Wars.
"I must acknowledge the tremendous effort of my entire Team, especially the mechanics, engineers and drivers. Not only have they placed our brand new effort, the number 15, fourth on the grid in it's very first race, they have done so under incredible conditions," said Barbour. "The heat here is unbearable, 106 degrees during qualifying. The heat inside the racecars on the track surely must reach 130. For the entire Team to continue to perform at the highest standard of excellence under these conditions is truly amazing," added Barbour.
