PAUL NEWMAN AND DICK BARBOUR RACE AGAIN

Road Atlanta, GA September 29, 2000 – Dick Barbour and Paul Newman
are racing together again after a 20-year pit stop. Newman will drive the Dick Barbour Racing number 15 Porsche 911 GT3 R in Saturday?s Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta. Newman will share driving duties with Randy Wars and Mike Brockman.

Newman and Barbour were last teammates in 1979 when they drove, along with Rolf Stommelin, a Porsche 935 Twin-Turbo in the 1979 24 Hours of Le Mans. The trio finished first in the IMSA class and second overall. Newman and Barbour competed together throughout the 1979 season.

?Ive always enjoyed racing with Paul because we share the same passion,? said Barbour. ?Paul is an exceptionally fast and smooth driver who delivers very consistent laps times lap after lap. I fully expect that the number 15 will do very well this Saturday.?

This year?s Petit Le Mans also represents a return by Barbour to the Road Atlanta circuit. Barbour competed here 20 years ago and won in a Porsche 935. The win culminated in the 1980 IMSA Championship.

Dick Barbour Racing is currently first in Team Points for the American Le Mans Series Championship and the drivers are first, second, third and fourth in Driver?s Points.

The Team?s will also field the number 5 car, piloted by Dirk Muller and Lucas Luhr, as well as the number 51, with Sascha Maassen and Bob Wollek behind the wheel.

The Petit Le Mans will be televised live on Speedvision beginning at 12:30PM EST on September 30th. A live radio broadcast of the race can also be heard on American Le Mans Series Radio Web at www.petitlemans.com
